I will be thankfull to God and to you partner, if you would have the patience to read all the contents of this work and even more if you pass it on, to the churches and to the brothers, our sugestion for the spreading of the gospel through the Bible Literacy Program (teaching how to read and write using the Bible) to save souls and bless our nation.

Bible Literacy Program - a method to the children of God who want to save souls while teaching illiterate people how to read, write and count.

1- Bible Literacy Program is a non-profit organization. It's a mission. It's a Brazilian organization that uses an unique project, program and methodology. My wife, Maria Jose, and son Eliel Gilberto, and I are volunteers in this organization receiving no wages for this work. Even the training we minister to the monitors (christians who want to teach illiterates) is free of charge.

2 - Our methodology is a revelation from the Lord, therefore different of what is taught or studied in academic courses. It was given by the Lord so that consecrated people, who love the Word of God, may bless others while teaching them. I don't think there is a need to speak about the pedagogical aspects of our method at this time, but they are actually taught to the to the monitors through the book Pastor Stevao wrote entitled: Literacy Bible Program (not available in English).

3 - Our program is entirely from the Lord teaching how to read and write using the Bible. The text book is the Bible itself. Using the Word of God illiterates are taught and their practice lessons are carried out in the book also written by Pastos Stevao entitled the Notebook of Activities (not available in English). Without the Bible there wouldn't be any class, because everything in this Method is based on the Bible.

4 - The Notebook of Activities is a didactic material that exempts the use of formal notebooks with lines. It is specially designed for directed education and is part of the Literacy Bible Program. It is an instrument for memorizing the knowledge learned through the letters from the Word of God. During the last 18 years it has been used and upgraded for this unique kind of education, and has proved amazing efficiency. Along these years, testing and upgrading this method, we believe we finally have achieved our goal.

5- Our Project - It can be used even in most distant rural areas, where there is no resources nor equipped facilities nor pedagogical structure. The results of this Project and why it is so amazing:
1°. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16.
2°. Our monitors are called by God. We are already using this program for 18 years and not financial suported by the government funds. All people involved with this project dedicate theirselves moved by love as volunteers with no profit gained and some even invest their own financial resources.
3°. This project is partially financed by Christian Churches, christian business men and brothers.
4°. All participants have a deep desire: To make the Will of God.

6 - Our lessons - they were developed through a speciall program in order to be applied in any place, especially in poor distant areas. There is no need of blackbords or any other suplemmentary materials. Certainly, these extra materials would be used if available. During the classes all that is used is the Bible, the Notebook of Activities (directed study), a box of wax chalks, pencils and rubbers.

7 - The Bible that we use - the Bible is the main book. It will be always the first book to be used, before any practice in the Notebook of Activities.

We live in Brazil, a country of much financial necessity, and literacy requires a special attention because it's a matter of utmost importance in the education. However even in this scenario, we cannot settle for the thought of whatever we are doing here is just fine. God himself did not accept worship with silver utensils. God demanded pure and refined gold for the worship in the Temple.

As servents of God, we ought to inform that the surprising results of our program is directed linked to the use of the Bible in the version we recommend. The translation is not the only important detail, but it is necessary that the Bible to be used is written in bigger print letters than the common versions. Best would be to use the Bible written in a giant print format. We discourage, for the purpose of literacy, the use of versions with many notations, references and initial information. But solely the essencial information that come in all Bibles versions regarding: Name, specifications and index. It's initial pages should not exceed the number of 5 including the blank ones.

Therefore, we recommend that the Bible version to be given to the illiterate should not be poorly bound. Should not be written with so small letters that only by a magnifying glass one would read, erroneously considering that those versions would be cheaper. The Bible version to be used in the program must be of excellent bookbinding. We are about to teach to read using the Bible, so we reiterate that it must be written with great easy to be seen letters. It should not have notations, parallel bars nor references. No economy of paper should be attempted at this point, so the beginning of each new book throughout the Bible version used should always be at the top of a new page and each versicle giving beginning to a new paragraph. The Bible and all the material used in the program are non-profit materials.

8 - Volunteers - Monitors are consecrated people who offer to God their work. These people give so much love, patience, and dedication as to the cause of literacy of illiterate brothers as to serving the Jesus. The success of this program is in its body as a whole, than exclusively in the degree of education of the monitors that sometimes possess only the minimum abillity to teach other people to read, write and count. Obviosly, academic degrees, experience in teaching, location, calling for this ministry and grace from the Lord Jesus, are very important factors that are not despised.

9 - The Capacitation is free of charge - The program trains volunteers free of charges, and they pass it on to the their churches and communities.

10 - Our numbers have caught our attention - 4.970 Nuclei created in 18 years. 67 different Christian denominations are participating. More than 30,000 trained monitors. Our web site already received 125.112 visits and a average of 600 pages visited per day. (Source: scriptbrasil.com.br ). We have received an average of 450 e-mails per day through 9 different e-mails addresses from many countries around the world.

We conclude: We only can give to the Lord Jesus our very best! We believe in this is the secret for the victory.
